Privacy Policy

How we handle your information — clearly and honestly
Effective Date: March 18, 2026 Last Updated: March 18, 2026 Applies to: SMS communications & member data
This policy describes how Netpositive Village collects, uses, and protects information related to our SMS communication channel and member contact data. It applies in addition to our Members Agreement, which governs the broader membership relationship.

1. Information We Collect

When you apply to join Netpositive Village or opt in to receive SMS messages from us, we may collect:

  • Your name
  • Your mobile phone number
  • The date and time of your opt-in consent
  • The specific program or communication you opted in to receive
  • Any message content you send to us in reply

We do not collect sensitive personal data (financial account numbers, government IDs, health data) through our SMS channel.

2. How We Use Your Information

Information collected through our SMS program is used exclusively to:

  • Send you the messages you consented to receive — including application confirmations, onboarding guidance, event reminders, and community updates
  • Respond to replies you send us
  • Honor opt-out requests and maintain our suppression list
  • Maintain records of consent as required by applicable carrier and regulatory standards

3. How We Do Not Use Your Information

Important We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data with any third party for marketing or commercial purposes — ever.

We do not use your contact information to share with advertisers or data brokers, build audience profiles for third-party platforms, or contact you through channels you have not opted in to.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

To deliver SMS messages, we use Twilio as our SMS platform provider. Twilio receives your phone number solely for the purpose of transmitting messages on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose. You can review Twilio's privacy practices at twilio.com/legal/privacy.

No other third parties receive your phone number or SMS data.

5. Opt-Out & Data Removal

You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. We will immediately cease all SMS communications and add your number to our permanent suppression list.

To request removal of your contact data from our records, email us at the address below. We will process removal requests within 30 days.

6. Data Retention

We retain SMS opt-in records (phone number, consent timestamp, program) for a minimum of 4 years to demonstrate compliance with carrier requirements. Opt-out records are retained indefinitely to honor your preference.

If you request full data deletion, we will delete all data except the suppression record necessary to honor your opt-out.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your contact information from unauthorized access or misuse. Our SMS platform (Twilio) maintains SOC 2 Type II compliance.

8. Children's Privacy

Our SMS program is directed at adults only. We do not knowingly collect phone numbers from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor's number has been added to our system, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. If changes are material, we will notify active SMS subscribers via text.
